Badminton Coaching for Children: Structured, Supportive Lessons
If you are seeking badminton coaching around Pinner and Northwood for your child, and you want - clear teaching, measurable progress and a positive, confidence-building environment then...
...Gala Academy offers exactly that
The academy is based in Pinner and serves Harrow, Northwood, Ruislip, Stanmore, and Watford. Our students also come from as far as North and South London.
We are Coaching Academy, NOT a Club
Gala Academy operates as a badminton school rather than a casual club. Sessions are:
Planned and structured
Delivered through a clear coaching syllabus
Run in small groups for quality individual attention
Children do not just play—they learn, practise and improve in a focused, supportive setting.

Convenient Location in Pinner
All sessions take place at St John’s School, Pinner (HA5).
We welcome players from all areas, with a particularly convenient location for Pinner, Harrow, Northwood, Ruislip, and Watford making it easier to fit badminton into the school week.
Our exact address is St John's School, Potter St Hill, Northwood, Pinner HA5 3ZF
Starting at the Right Level
Every new player completes a short assessment so we can:
Place them in the right group
Match them with players of a similar level
Give parents a clear baseline for tracking progress
A Clear Junior Development Pathway
Our junior programme is built around four levels:
Foundation
Development
Progression
Elite
Players move up based on ability, not time, ensuring they are challenged appropriately without being rushed.

Curriculum-Led Coaching
Each level follows a defined syllabus covering:
Technique – footwork, movement, shot execution
Tactics – decision-making, rally construction
Game understanding – positioning, scoring, match play
Sessions are progressive, with skills introduced, reinforced and then applied in game situations.
Parents receive regular feedback on their child’s development.
Small Groups, Greater Individual Attention
Groups are limited to a maximum of 12 players to ensure:
More individual coaching time
Effective use of court space
A calm, organised learning environment
This structure particularly benefits children who are keen to improve in a purposeful way.

Term-Time Only, Family-Friendly Schedule
Gala Academy runs in line with the school calendar. There are no sessions during:
Half-term breaks
Christmas holidays
Easter holidays
The summer term is delivered with added flexibility to suit varying family schedules.
Weekly Sessions for Juniors and Adults
Junior coaching runs six days a week, offering multiple options for families
Adult coaching is held on Mondays for those seeking structured improvement rather than social play

At minimum, a Gala Academy T-shirt and appropriate sports bottoms.
